![]() The major ministries of Mount Carmel are developed and carried out through six Departments. They are the Departments of Missions, Christian Education, Spiritual Life, Administration, Music, Outreach and Youth. All Departments are guided by the Pastor. The Department of Spiritual Life is under the day-to-day leadership, guidance and oversight of our Pastor, Reverend Joseph Norman Evans. The Board of Deacons assists the Pastor by providing day-to-day budgetary, program, and staffing oversight for the organizations of the Department. The purpose of the Department of Spiritual Life is to coordinate activities and services that provide a meaningful worship experience, enhance the spiritual life of the Church, and bring souls to Christ. The Department of Outreach is under the day-to-day leadership, guidance and oversight of the Director of Outreach. The purpose of the Department of Outreach is to provide oversight, coordination, and integration of community related activities and programs that enhance the lives of the members of Mount Carmel and attract non-member residents of the community. The purpose of the Department of Missions is to seek to promote the total mission enterprise of Mount Carmel. The work of the Department is of utmost importance to the spiritual life of the Church. Guidelines are based on the word of God, in particular, the Great Commission: "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:19-20 The Department of Missions is composed of those persons who have special interests in the work of missions. The Department seeks to discover possibilities for local missions projects, share findings with Church program organizations, and serve the Church in establishing and conducting such other missions projects as may be assigned to it. Hello, Im Patricia L. Harris, Director of the Department of Christian Education of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Id like to personally welcome you to our web site and take a moment to tell you a little about what you will find in the Department of Christian Education. The purpose of the Department of Christian Education is to coordinate the religious educational spectrum of the Church. The Department interacts with all organizations of the Church regarding possible educational opportunities, projects, and other helpful learning experiences. The Department meets at least six times per year. This Department provides experiences for the Christian growth of children, youth, and adults. The main objective of the Department is to unify, supervise, and promote all educational interests of the Church, to make recommendations for necessary change, and improve the Church's educational program. Membership Committee Hello, I'm Leona Lowery-Hawkins, Director of Music at Mount Carmel. Id like to personally welcome you to our web site and take a moment to tell you a little about what you will find in the Department of Music. The Department of Music is under the day-to-day leadership, guidance and oversight of the Director of Music. The purpose of the Department of Music is to provide music for regular and special programs of the Church and to provide musicians for all services. This includes providing oversight, execution and coordination of a well-rounded program of music to meet the diverse tastes and interest of the Mt. Carmel membership. Components of a well-rounded program include: (1) multiple choirs or choral groups spanning a wide range of age groups of the membership and singing a variety of types of religious and spiritual music; (2) vocal and instrumental education and training; and (3) continuous music appreciation events, programs, information and experiences for members and the community. Organist, Assistant Church Organist, and Pianists Hello, Im Margaret H. Smith, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Mount Carmel Baptist Church. Id like to personally welcome you to our web site and take a moment to tell you a little about what you will find in the Department of Administration. The Department of Administration is under the day-to-day leadership, guidance and oversight of the Board of Trustees. The purpose of the Department of Administration is to support the worship, fellowship, edification, and evangelism programs of the Church. Overall its responsibility is the oversight, coordination and integration of the secular and stewardship affairs of the Church. Components include: (1) Church administration, personnel and operations; (2) financial affairs, care, upkeep and improvement of facilities and properties; (3) budgeting, accounting, collection of sacrificial contributions in support of Church ministries; (4) food preparation for fellowship promotion; (5) coordination of Church activities and calendar; (6) archival functions and records; (7) internal and external communications and publicity of Church activities; and (8) use of the Church's facilities by outside groups.
