The Honorable Arlene L. Robinson Scholarship Fund is named in honor of the late Judge Robinson who served the Washington DC area through her advocacy for abused and neglected children. In addition to devotedly supporting Mount Carmel’s Junior Church and various youth activities, she served on the Mayor’s Advisory Committee for Child Abuse and Neglect, the Superior Court’s Family Task Force, as well as the Mayor’s working group to establish a children’s advocacy center. Along with Dr. Lavendar Orr of the D.C. Children’s Hospital and U.S. Attorney Patricia Riley, Judge Robinson founded Safe Shores—a direct service nonprofit advocacy center providing intervention, hope, and healing to DC children and families affected by abuse and trauma.

Donations made to the Scholarship Fund will go directly to the tuition costs of competitely selected Mount Carmel scholars persuing higher education.
