Rev. Dr. Tarsha Banister

Dr. Tarsha W. Banister stands alongside her husband as a principal ministry leader at Mount Carmel Baptist Church of Washington, DC, and as also serves as a congregational consultant for The Center for Congregational Health, an affiliate of Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. Tarsha is a native of Raleigh, North Carolina, and a graduate of North Carolina Central University where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree. With an undying love for education, she also pursued and completed a Master of Adult Education from Walden University, a Master of Divinity degree from Wake Forest University School of Divinity in Winston-Salem, NC, and a doctoral degree at Duke Divinity School, Durham, NC in May 2023. One of her most notable accolades includes being granted the 2020 Addie Davis Leadership award for Outstanding Leadership in Pastoral Ministry by the Baptist Women in Ministry organization.
Beyond pulpit ministry, Tarsha is a visionary leader in the church and academy. She has served in various capacities within the church and the community, including Christian Education Ministry, Spiritual Formation Director, and Congregational Care. Her passion for healthy leadership has led her to explore the study of Christian social innovation, a practical approach toward renewal to assist congregations in envisioning themselves as beloved communities of transformation with a fresh and unique expression of the Gospel of Christ. Mosaic Vision Coaching and Consulting, LLC is the platform through which Tarsha has been able to touch congregations throughout the region.
Tarsha is married to the Reverend Dr. T. Ashby Banister, III and together they are proud parents of two beautiful daughters and son-in-law.
